Re: Pmp vs mba
PMP is focus only on Project Management. Project could be in any industries not only software or Information Technology. It talks about 5 basic process groups Initiating Planning Executing Monitoring and Controlling Closing And 9 knowledge areas Project Integration Management Project Scope Management Project Time Management Project Cost Management Project Quality Management Project Human Resource Management Project Communications Management Project Risk Management Project Procurement Management Whereas MBA is a two year degree course which focus on different industrial streams eg: Information Technology Human Resource Management Financial Management Banking Quality Management Project Management Production / Operations Management Marketing Management etc There are some positives to an MBA that a PMP Certification cannot match. For instance in an MBA program you will learn business practices and theories that a PMP program does not even touch upon. On the other hand Project Management, which PMP prepares you for is probably one of the fastest growing professions in the world today A good quality MBA program can cost around $100,000. The average cost of a PMP on the other hand is $2,000. There is another factor that you need to keep in mind. The MBA takes in more man hours than a PMP (and time is also money). So after finishing their degrees the PMP is making the same amount of money as an MBA at 1/50th the cost! |
