PGDM and MBA difference

hello sir I would like to know the basic difference between PGDM and MBA Program so please provide me information about these programs.

MBA is offered only by Universities and Colleges affiliated to Universities. Institutes which are not affiliated to any University give PGDM degrees.

Major differences between MBA and PGDM

MBA/MMS is offered by 'Universities' or 'Colleges that are affiliated to Universities' or Central Body directly under the Indian Govt while PGDM/PGP is offered by individual colleges and IIM's.

Fees is high in case of PGDM/PGP as compared to MMS/MBA.

PGDM is much more flexible in terms of syllabus as syllabus is not bounded by a particular university.

Ideally PGDM program is residential while MBA is not.

Examples of PGDM/PGP Institutes in India are- IIMs, XLRI, SP Jain, NMIMS (Bangalore/Hyderabad) etc.

Examples of MBA colleges in India are- IIFT, JBIMS, FMS NMIMS (Mumbai), SIBM (Pune), IITs etc

Is PGDM equal to MBA

Not necessarily that a PGDM is equal to MBA because if PGDM is to be an equivalent to MBA then the college offering the PGDM course must have accreditation from AIU (The Association of Indian Universities).

PGDM

PGDM expands to Post Graduate Diploma in Management.

Many students are of the view that it is a Diploma course and not a Degree; you are right it is a Diploma.

The main reason why postgraduate courses are named as PGDM is because when an Institute is an autonomous body (meaning it is not affiliated to any University) and conducts management courses then such Institutes cannot offer MBA degree.

Even IIMs, XLRI’s doesn’t offer MBA degrees they only give PGP Diploma or PGDM since they are autonomous and independent bodies.

MBA

A two year management degree expands to Master of Business Administration, only Universities can grant MBA degrees.

It could be foreign university or Indian University.

There are many differences between MBA and PGDM. MBA is Masters in Business Administration while PGDM is Post Graduate Diploma in Management. The duration of these courses also varies. The streams covered in these courses also vary. Good colleges like ITM University offer both MBA and postgraduate management courses.
