The Annamalai University has a letter for offering Post Graduate Degree through Open University conducted by the Annamalai University - Recognition - Reg. under the Ref: Lr. No/ /A2/97 dated 18.02.1997.

The University is also included in Schedule 33 of the General Rules for Tamil Nadu State and Subordinate services.

As such with reference to the rule 19 of the general rules for Tamil Nadu State and Subordinate services, M.A. Degree programmes in various branches of Annamalai University under Open University System are automatically recognised as a qualification for appointment in Public Services.
