Ocean Around India
I am doing MA Geography degree from Rajasthan University and got an assignment to make project report on the topic Ocean Around India. Will you provide me all the details related to Indian Ocean and tell details of list of Marginal seas, gulfs, bays and straits of the Indian Ocean?

The Indian Ocean is the third largest of the world's oceanic divisions, covering approximately 20% of the water on the Earth's surface. It is bounded by Asia on the north, on the west by Africa, on the east by Australia, and on the south by the Southern Ocean. The Indian Ocean is a relatively large ocean with an area of 26,469,900 square miles (68,566,000 sq km). List of Marginal seas, gulfs, bays and straits of the Indian Ocean include: Arabian Sea Persian Gulf Red Sea Gulf of Oman Gulf of Aden Strait of Bab-el-Mandeb connecting Arabian Sea Gulf of Kutch Gulf of Khambat Palk Strait connecting Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal Bay of Bengal Andaman Sea Mozambique Channel Great Australian Bight Gulf of Mannar Laccadive Sea List of some seas along with their areas: The following is a list of those seas arranged by area. 1) Arabian Sea Area: 1,491,126 square miles (3,862,000 sq km) 2) Bay of Bengal Area: 838,614 square miles (2,172,000 sq km) 3) Andaman Sea Area: 231,661 square miles (600,000 sq km) 4) Red Sea Area: 169,113 square miles (438,000 sq km) 5) Java Sea Area: 123,552 square miles (320,000 sq km) 6) Persian Gulf Area: 96,911 square miles (251,000 sq km) 7) Sea of Zanj (located off the east coast of Africa) |
