Directorate of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) is the central nodal agency for the prevention and control of vector borne diseases i.e. Malaria, Dengue, Lymphatic Filariasis, Kala-azar, Japanese Encephalitis and Chikungunya in India.

It is one of the Technical Departments of Directorate General of Health Services, Government of India.

Objectives

The main aim is the reduction of the disease to a tolerable level in which the human population can be protected from malaria transmission with the available means.

The Urban Malaria Scheme aims at :

To prevent deaths due to malaria.
Reduction in transmission and morbidity.

Diseases

Malaria
Dengue
Filaria
Kala-azar
Japanese Encephalitis
Chikungunya

Under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, 17 Regional Offices for Health and Family Welfare (ROH & FW) are functioning.
