An OB/GYN physician, also known as obstetrician or gynecologist. To become an OB/GYN requires at least 12 years of post high school education before certification can be considered. To become an OBGYN the candidate need to fulfill the education requirements and Career Information. Steps 1 Research educational requirements for an OB/GYN career. A high GPA in science is one of the requirements. The exact requirements are: Four years at the undergraduate level Four years of medical school. Four years of residency at a medical facility. You need to pass state medical board exams. You need to pass specialization exams. 2 Review the duties and responsibilities of an OB/GYN. OB/GYN physicians perform female annual wellness exams which include: Mammograms Cervical exams Pap smears Biopsies Screen women for symptoms of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases Fertility issues Menopausal disorders Sexual dysfunctions Write orders for prescription drugs 3 Start preparing for medical school while in high school.
