The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority is a non-departmental public body of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, formed by the Energy Act 2004.

The NDA has its Headquarters in Herdus House, Westlakes Science & Technology Park, Moor Row, Cumbria.

The NDA itself only employs 300 staff, its annual budget is 3.2 billion. The NDA archive Nucleus has been voted one of the most stylish buildings in the UK, collecting two top awards.
