The NTNU Master of Science programmes in Petroleum Engineering requires 2 years of full-time study and builds on a completed BSc/BEng degree or the requisite equivalent (see Admission).

MSc in Petroleum Engineering

The two international Master program is taught in English, and fully integrates Norwegian and foreign students. All courses award 7.5 ECTS credits.

Specialization can be obtained within the areas drilling technology, petroleum production, reservoir technology, petroleum geology/geophysics, seismology and reservoir seismology

Formal prerequisites

Candidates have a BSc/BEng in Petroleum Engineering. Applicants with a BSc/BEng degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering may also be considered for admission if they have relevant work experience from the petroleum sector. For the MSc in Petroleum Geoscience a first degree in Applied Geosciences or Geology is required.

English language requirements

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 600/90 points on the paper based/internet based test

IELTS (International English Language Testing Service) with a minimum score of band 6.5

APIEL (Advanced Placement International English Language) examination with a minimum score of 3 points
