The Two-day workshop on Microwave Remote Sensing conducted in 2016 by NITK or National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surthakal was essentially for developing capacity building in the use of Microwave data in various application fields.

The course helped the participants to take up R&D and utilization programs in the emerging area of frontier technologies like Polarimetry, Interferometry and Microwave Remote Sensing applications

October 17th – Monday
09:00 – 10:00 AM: Introduction to Microwave Remote Sensing
10:00 – 11:00 AM: Understanding of SAR Images
11:00 – 11:30 AM: Tea Break
11:30 – 01:00 PM: SAR Polarimetric decomposition and classification
01:00 – 02:00 PM: Lunch Break
02:00 – 03:30 PM: Application of Polarimetric SAR Data
03:30 – 04:00 PM: Tea Break
04:00 – 05:30 PM: Practical / hands on experience with the data sets and software (Do it yourself)

October 18th – Tuesday
09:00 – 10:00 AM: SAR Interferometry (InSAR) for DEM generation
10:00 – 11:00 AM: Differential InSAR and PSInSAR for displacement map generation
11:00 – 11:30 AM: Tea Break
11:30 – 01:00 PM: Passive Microwave Remote Sensing and Applications
01:00 – 02:00 PM: Lunch Break
02:00 – 03:30 PM: Practical with InSAR, DInSAR and PSInSAR
03:30 – 04:00 PM: Tea Break
04:00 – 05:30 PM: Practical on Microwave Remote Sensing
