National Institute of Technology, Silchar or NIT Silchar is one of leading engineering institutes of India. The institute was previously known as Regional Engineering College, Silchar and was set up in 1967 as a combined project of Government of India and Government of Assam. The college started its classes in 1977 and presently offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various branches of engineering.
