National Institute Of Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar) is one of the 30 NITs of India and was established in 1967. It was declared as Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007.

NIT Silchar Mess Menu

Menu for Boys/ Girls Hostel (Except Boy’s Hostel 5)

Breakfast (6.30am – 8.00am)

Bread 5pcs with butter/ jelly (2 days), Puri (std size) 4pcs with Ghuguni (2 days), Roti (std size) 3pcs with Sabji (2 days), Paratha (std size)/ Bhatura 2pcs with Chana-Masala (1 day) along with Tea (4 days) and Coffee (3 days). One or two days may be substituted by equivalent south Indian items (Dosa, Edli, Poha, Upma, Uttapam etc) if possible.

Lunch (12.00pm – 2.30pm)

Open items (daily): Rice plus Roti, Dal (medium dense, varying type based on student’s choice), Vegetable Sabji (mixed curry), table salt and green chili. Limited item (daily): Bhaji, (varying type, std quantity, with locally available vegetables), Salad (or Papad) and Lemon (or Pickle) as per availability basis.

Evening Snacks (5.00pm – 6.00pm)

Singhara (std) 2pcs (2 days), Vegetable Chowmin ½ std. plate (2 days), Potato-Masala chat (2 day), Vada-Pao (1 day) or any suitable item as per the choice of students but within the rate quoted, along with Tea (3 days) and Coffee (4 days).

Dinner (8.00pm – 10.30pm)

Monday-Saturday Open items (daily): Rice plus Roti, Dal (medium dense, varying type based on student’s choice), Vegitable Sabji (mixed curry), table salt and green chili. Limited item (daily): Bhaji, (varying type, std quantity), Salad (or Papad) and Lemon (or Pickle) (a) For non-veg: Fish (70gm each) curry (2 days), Egg (1 egg) curry (1 day), Chicken (70gm dressed each) curry (3 days) (b) For Veg: Paneer (40gm each) curry potato (or Peas) or Kofta alternatively or any other equivalent item based on boarder’s choice.

Improved Dinner on Sunday - special preparation.

Open items: Pullao (std quality) and Puri, Bhaji, Chana Dal (Dense), Salad and Papad/ Pickle including table salt and green chili. Limited items: For Non-Veg – Chicken (100gm dressed each) curry. For Veg – Motor/ Palak paneer (60gm paneer each) or any other equivalent item based on boarder’s choice.

Grand feast (Dinner)

1. Last Sunday of the Month.
2. valid only for full month running mess.

Open items: Pullao (std quality) and Puri, Bhaji, Chana Dal (Dense), Salad and Papad/ Pickle including table salt and green chili. Limited items: For Non-Veg – Chicken (100gm dressed each) butter masala. For Veg – Motor/ Palak paneer (50gm paneer each) or any other equivalent item based on boarder’s choice. Sweet, Curd and Cold Drinks (or Ice cream)
