The NIT or National Institute of Technology Goa is an engineering institution founded in 2010 being one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India and is recognized as an Institute of National Importance.

As an institute with university status, it operates with complete autonomy in financial, academic and administrative matters. Its Board of Governors manages the institute which has representatives from the Government of India, Government of Goa, and All India Council for Technical Education, University Grants Commission, the institute's faculty and illustrious Indian scientists or technologists.
