National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has conduct an entrance examination for admission in undergraduate Accessory Designing, Fashion Communication, Fashion Designing, Knitwear Designing, Leather Designing, Textile Designing and Apparel Production program along with masters of Design, Fashion Management, and Fashion Technology program. NIFT Syllabus - It consists of GAT (General Ability Test), CAT (Creative Ability Test), Situation Test and Group Discussion/ Personal Interview. General Ability Test will consist of 5 sections: Quantitative Ability Communication Ability English Comprehension Analytical Ability General Knowledge and Current Affairs Quantitative Ability: This section will test students’ quantitative ability. It consists of questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Rate of Interest, Percentage, Work and Task, Distance and Ratio and Proportion. Communication Ability- The section will test candidates’ language ability in day to day communication in English. It comprises questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, , correct spellings, one word substitutes, singular, plural, idioms and phrases. English Comprehension- This will test candidates’ ability to understand situation and basic English language. Analytical Ability- The section will test inference and logic of the candidates from the given information. General Knowledge and Current Affairs- This will test candidates’ awareness regarding the current affairs and general knowledge. |

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is the leading fashion technology institute in India providing admissions to all the candidates eligible in different under graduate courses including the following: Bachelor of Accessory Designing; Bachelor of Fashion Communication; Bachelor of Fashion Designing; Bachelor of Knitwear Designing; Bachelor of Leather Designing; Bachelor of Textile Designing and Apparel Production respectively. Entrance exams to all courses offered at NIFT will be taken in two phases. Phase One (PBT I) of the examinations will comprise of the first round of paper based tests. Phase Two of the examinations will comprise of the second round of tests which could either be paper based (PBT II) or computer based (CBT), depending upon the particular course. Negative marks of 0.25 are deducted for every wrong answer. Bachelor's Programs Design For admission to the Bachelors of Design, the total score of every applicant will be a composite of: -50 per cent - General Ability Test (GAT) -30 per cent - Creative Ability Test (CAT) -20 per cent - Situation Test Fashion Technology For admission to the Bachelors of Fashion Technology, the total score of every applicant will be based on their General Ability Test (GAT) score. Master's Programs Design For admission to the Masters of Design, the total score of every applicant will be a composite of: -40 per cent - Creative Ability Test (CAT) -30 per cent - General Ability Test (GAT) -30 per cent - Group Discussion or Personal Interview Fashion Technology For admission to the Masters of Fashion Technology, the total score of every applicant will be a composite of: -70 per cent - General Ability Test (GAT) -30 per cent - Group Discussion or Personal Interview Fashion Management For admission to the Masters of Fashion Management, the total score of every applicant will be a composite of: -70 per cent - General Ability Test (GAT) -30 per cent - Group Discussion or Personal Interview Exam Pattern GAT The General Ability Test for B.Des and M.Des will have the following segments: -Quantitative Ability - 25 Questions -Communication Ability - 35 Questions -English Comprehension - 30 Questions -Analytical Ability - 30 Questions -General Knowledge and Current Affairs - 30 Questions The General Ability Test for B.FTech, MFM, M.Des AND M.FTech will have the following segments: -Quantitative Ability - 30 Questions for B.FTech and M.FTech and 10 Questions for MFM -Communication Ability and English Comprehension - 45 Questions for B.FTech and M.FTech and 50 Questions for MFM -Analytical and Logical Ability - 25 Questions for B.FTech, M.FTech and MFM -General Knowledge and Current Affairs - 25 Questions for B.FTech, M.FTech and MFM -Case Study - 25 Questions for B.FTech and M.FTech and 40 Questions for MFM CAT The Creative Ability Test (CAT) assesses an applicants' intuition skill, observation ability, innovative and design ability. Use of color and illustrative abilities are also important here. |
