NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) was set up at Delhi in 1986 and had only one programme of Fashion Design to offer. The campus initially started functioning from a temporary 2 room set up in its shaping years and shifted to a full-fledged campus in 1994.

The structure designed by Dr. B.V. Doshi is based on the concept of a central step-well to conserve rainwater, a traditional Indian Baoli and is listed as one of the modern Iconic architecture of Delhi.

NIFT at that time had only 4 programmes, 2 at master level (Garment Manufacturing Technology & Apparel Marketing and Management) and 2 at bachelor level (Fashion Design and Accessory Design).

Continuing Education (CE) programs
The Continuing Education (CE) programs are a great way to pursue educational and professional goals and upgrade skill level. The short duration part time evening courses offer ardent professional a platform to hone and learn at a quicker pace that also fits their own schedule.

Developed in consultation with reputed academicians and industry practitioners, each CE program offered by NIFT is crafted carefully keeping the current requirements of the industry in mind.

These requirements are further looked after by mixing theory with practice, preparing aspiring individuals for the real life challenges in their chosen field of design.

A total of 15 courses are being offered to meet the needs of the apparel and accessory industry including a diploma program. Some of the courses are being offered solely at Delhi campus.
