The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the posts of Assistant Professors or Junior Research Fellowship at Indian universities. It is held twice a year.

Important Dates December 2015:
• The last date for submitting application forms is November 1
• The last date for payment of fee is November 2
• The CBSE UGC NET will be conducted on December 27

Eligibility criteria:
The candidates should have a Master's degree or its equivalent from a recognised university or institute. Their degree should be any of these disciplines- Humanities, languages, Social Science, Electronic Science, Computer Science and Application, etc.

The candidates should have a minimum score of 55 percent in their qualifying degree. Those candidates who have appeared for their final exams and are awaiting their results, and those who are yet to take their exams are also eligible to apply.

Paper pattern:

The Test will consist of three papers.

Session:- First

•Paper:- I
•Marks:- 100
•Number of Question:- 60 out of which 50 question to be attempted
•Duration:- 1¼ Hours (09.30 A.M. to 10.45 A.M.)

Session:- First

•Paper:- II
•Marks:- 100
•Number of Question:- 50 questions all are compulsory
•Duration:- 1¼ Hours (10.45 A.M. to 12.00 NOON)

Session:- Second

•Paper:- III
•Marks:- 150
•Number of Question:- 75 questions all are compulsory
•Duration:- 2½ Hours (01.30 P.M. to 4.00 P.M.)

Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50). In the event of the candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.

Paper-II shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.

Paper-III will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.

All questions of Paper-II and Paper-III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).
