It is created under the Punjab State Private University Act 2005 and recognized by UGC under Section 2 of UGC Act 1956. Affiliation of LPU University As per law Universities don't require approval from AICTE to run its courses. Its the institutes which are affiliated to universities needs AICTE approval. As LPU is a Bonafide University established by a State Act, it does not require AICTE approval. University needs recognition from UGC Lovely Professional University (LPU), Jalandhar is recognized by UGC (University Grant Commission). Universities need approval for certain professional courses from the concerned Councils which regulate the courses in certain discipline such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, Architecture, Distance Learning etc. Wherever recognition by Statutory Bodies is required or mandatory, LPU has obtained such recognition/ approval. DEC (Distance Education Council) for distance learning programmes. NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) for Teacher's Training programmes PCI (Pharmacy Council of India) for courses in Pharmacy. COA (Council of Architecture) for courses in Architecture. BCI (Bar Council of India) for its courses in Law such as LLB. Awards and rankings The Lovely Faculty of Technology and Sciences was ranked #12 on the CSR-GHRDC Engineering Colleges Survey 2011. LMA Vardhman award was given to Ashok Mittal, Chancellor of Lovely Professional University (LPU). The university got the best private university of the year award by ASSOCHAM for the year 2012. TV Channel Star News conferred National 'Outstanding B-School - North' Award and B-School Leadership - National' Award to LPU in 2011.
