Re: CCSU Parking Regulations

The parking and traffic regulations have been developed by the Central Connecticut State University Parking & Traffic Regulations Panel and are authorized by its president.

The traffic regulations of the city of New Britain, the town of Newington, and the state of Connecticut may apply to some areas of the campus and are enforced where applicable.

Authority for the enforcement of these regulations rests with the director of public safety and its agents.

Parking & Traffic Appeals Committee

Functions & Responsibilities:

The working and tasks of the Committee are to hear and decide appeals of penalties assessed for violations of the Parking and Traffic Regulations of Central Connecticut State University as approved by the Board of Trustees and the State Traffic Commission. It has no authority over towing charges.

The membership of the Committee shall consist of one member elected from each academic school; one administrator; two students (one residential, one commuter) appointed by the University President; the Director of Public Safety, ex officio; each union other than AAUP is eligible to elect one of its members.

Procedures:
Appeals are filed with the Chairperson of the Committee on the approved form within 10 calendar days of the date of the ticket.

Within 30 days of receipt of the appeal, the Committee shall meet, consider and decide the appeal on the basis of the information provided on the appeal form. The appellant may in addition appear and present one’s case in person.

Appellants are notified by mail at least ten days in advance of the date, time and place of the Committee's meeting. Appeal decisions are by majority vote of the Committee members present and voting.

Notification of the Committee's decision is by mail.
