This University was established by the Government of Odisha, under Section 32 of the Odisha Universities Act, 1989 (Act 5 of 1989). Admission Detials Eligibility: An applicant for admission in a Ph.D. programme must have obtained a Master's Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in the concerned or allied subject preceeded by a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Degree from a recognized University / Institute. In addition to the above, an applicant must also fulfill any one of the following conditions: i) Have cleared the FMU - RET (Fakir Mohan University Research Eligibility Test). The validity of the FMU-RET, once cleared, will be valid for two years from the publication of the result. ii) Qualified in any of the following examinations: NET/JRF (conducted by UGC/CSIR/ DBT/ other national tests with eligibility for research), SLET, GATE (Valid as on last date of application). iii) Have obtained an M. Phil. degree from a university recognized by FMU/ the UGC with course work having minimum 300 marks/ 24 credits including a review work/ dissertation. iv) Holder of Valid Teacher Fellowship of UGC Foreign nationals desiring to get admission into Ph. D. degree are exempted from the above conditions, but should submit a letter of willingness from a guide who should be a permanent faculty member of F. M.
