Karnataka state medical education department has decided to establish the 6 new medical colleges in Karnataka in upcoming years. The government will paid 199 crore. Currently, Karnataka has 16 government colleges in Karnataka. After establishing these government college, the state would be become the largest state that have medical colleges.

Presently the medical colleges are in cities viz: Bangalore, Mysore, Bellary, Hubli, Bidar, Raichur, Belgaum, Shimoga, Hassan and Mandya.
