The North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Library is now a premier university library of the North-Eastern Region of India with a collection of over 2.9 lakh volumes of books and bound periodicals

The NEHU Central Library is now equipped with high-end computers and other electronic and audio-visual equipment to provide seamless in-house and online services.

The Library cater to the needs of the students, research scholars, faculty, administrators and staff of the university.

Library Revised Rates

The provisions relating to library revised rates, as approved by the NEHU Executive Council in its 117th meeting held on 15th December 2003.

Revised rates for fines on overdue books: -

Any member delaying the return of a book after the due date will be fined Rs.2/- for general book and Rs.5/- for the course book for the first week.

Thereafter with doubling of the amount for every subsequent week

Further, the facility of issue will also be withdrawn till the return of the book.”
Loss of pass book/card: -

If a member loses a Pass Book/Card, it should immediately be reported to the Librarian. The Librarian may issue a duplicate set of Cards/Pass Book on payment of Rs.25/-.

Other Categories 2 15 days Rs.500/- + Rs.50/- Library Fee

Loss of books:

In case the book is out of print on documentary evidence, the loss may be replaced as follows:

(a) by a Xeroxed copy of the same and bound in book form
(b) the book may be replaced by a latest book to be decided by the Librarian in consultation with the Head of the Department.

Reprography:

The charges for each Xerox copy will be decided by the Librarian from time to time.

At present, the photocopying and printing services have been outsourced.
