Here I am giving you information about Special Class Railway Apprentices Examination conducts by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to select candidates for the appointment as Special Class Apprentices in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways.


SCRA Exam Eligibility
-You must have attained the age of 17 years and must not have attained the age of 21 years
-Age relaxations will be applicable as per rules.


You must have passed in the first or second division, the Intermediate or an equivalent Examination of a University or Board with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.


-Graduates with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as their degree subjects.

Selection Process:
You will be selected on the basis of Written Examination and Interview.


Exam Pattern of SCRA Entrance Exam:
Paper I General Ability Test 120 Minutes 200 Marks
Paper II Physical Sciences 120 Minutes 200 Marks
Paper III Mathematics 120 Minutes 200 Marks
Total 600 Marks

English:-
Unseen passages, advertisement and notices, invitations and replies, business or official letters, jumbled sentences, sentence correction and paragraph completion, Idiomatic Usage, Subject and Verb agreement, Vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, passive, nouns, adjectives, verbs and proverbs, articles direct and indirect speech, Clause Correction


General Knowledge:-
Man and his environment, Solar system and the earth, Seasons, Climate, Weather, History, Politics and Society in India, Constitution of India and its characteristic features, India’s foreign policy and non-alignment, Broad features of Indian social system, Social disorganization in India, Money.


Psychological Test:-
Introduction to Psychology, Methods of Psychology, The Bases of Human Behavior, Human Development, Sensory and Perceptual Processes, Learning, Human Memory, Language and thought, Motivation and Emotion, Reasoning.


Physical Science:-

Physics:-
Length measurements, Time and Mass, velocity and acceleration, Newton's laws of motion, Coefficient of friction, Equilibrium of bodies under action of forces, Mass and Weight, Temperature and its measurement, Reflection and refraction of light, Electric current, Magnetic effect of current, Chemical effects of current, Production, properties and uses of X-rays, Radioactivity.


Chemistry:-
Atomic structure, Chemical Bonding, Energy changes in a chemical reaction, Chemical Equilibria and rates of reactions, Solutions, Electro-Chemistry, Oxidation, Natural and Artificial Radioactivity, Brief Treatment of Elements and their industrially important compounds, Hydrogen, Metallurgical Processes, Tetrahedral nature of carbon, General methods of preparation, Halogen derivatives, Hydroxy Compounds, Ethers; Diethyl ether, Aldehydes and ketones, Nitro compounds amines, Carboxylic acid, Esters, Polymers, Nonstructural treatment of Carbohydrates.
