Can you tell me if a Commerce Student can apply for NDA (National Defence Academy) Examination conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)?

NDA Exam held two times in a year through offline mode (written test). The exam consists of 2 sections- Mathematics and General Ability Test. The total duration of NDA is 5 hours combined for both sections.

Those who clear the written exam will proceed to the NDA SSB Interview Process. UPSC sets the cut off score to prepare the merit list of candidates who are called for the five-day selection process.


Qualification Criteria:
The minimum qualification required for Indian Army wing, Navy and Air Force is as follows:

Eligibility for Indian Army:

One want to apply for Indian Army must have completed 12th (10+2 pattern) or its equivalent exam from a well-recognized board.

The appearing candidates can also apply.


Eligibility for Indian Navy and Air Force:

One must have passed the 12th/appearing (10+2 pattern) from a recognized board or University with Physics and Mathematics as a compulsory subject.

One who has debarred by the Ministry of Defence from holding any type of Commission in the Defence Services is not eligible to apply. One who has failed INSB/PABT earlier is not eligible for Air Force


Nationality:

One must be a citizen of India, Nepal or Bhutan.

A Tibetan refugee came to India before 01 January 1962 with a mindset to become a permanent resident of India is also eligible.

A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, SriLanka, Pakistan & East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India are also eligible to apply.


Age Limits, Gender & Marital Status:

One’s age should be 16.5 years - 19.5 years

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible for NDA examination.

Girls are not allowed for the NDA entrance examination.
