Yes, Diabetes and Hypertension can be covered from inception in Mediclaim policy of National Insurance Company (NICL) by paying extra premium.

Inclusions in NICL Mediclaim policy:

In-patient treatment :
1% of sum insured per day for normal room & 2% of sum insured per day ICU.

More than 140 day care procedures.

Pre-hospitalization expenses :
up to 30 days prior to the hospitalization.

Post-hospitalization expenses :
60 days after discharge from the hospital.

Expenses incurred for Any One Illness :
50% of sum insured.

Expenses incurred for person donating an organ.

Cashless facility through TPA (Third Party Administrator)

Diabetes and Hypertension are covered by paying extra premium.

NICL Mediclaim Policy Exclusions:

For first 30 days of commencement of the policy, no claim is payable other than accidental injuries.

Pre-existing diseases – covered after a waiting period of 4 policy years subject to continuous renewal.

2 (two) years waiting period for following diseases.
Cataract
Pilonidal sinus
Benign prostatic hypertrophy
Sinusitis
Hysterectomy
Calculus disease
Hernia
Benign lumps or growths in any part of the body
Hydrocoele
CSOM (Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media)
Internal congenital anomaly
Joint replacement of any kind (unless arising out of accident).
Piles
Surgical treatment of tonsils and adenoids
Chronic fissure in anus
Deviated nasal septum and related problems.

Vaccination or inoculation, Spectacles, hearing aid, contact lens, Cosmetic, sex change.

Plastic surgery, General debility, Dental treatment, External congenital anomaly.

Sterility, intentional self-inflicted injury, venereal disease, abuse of Drug/alcohol.

HIV/AIDS, Non allopathic treatment, Maternity, Vitamins, tonics, wars etc.
