NATA Second Attempt

Hi buddy I can not clear NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) in my fist attempt so can I go for its Second Attempt, plz do guide me ??

NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) is a national level test that is conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi.

Don’t worry if you could not clear NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) in my fist attempt then you can go for Second Attempt bcoz one can attempt NATA for a maximum of 5 ( Five ) times during the period when their latest scorecard is valid. For every attempt, however, a new NATA Registration form is to be submitted online by the students at the NATA website. The mark list will show the best marks scored by the students in his previous 5 attempts. Do not register for repeat attempt unless you receive score card for previous attempt.

Exam Pattern :

NATA test is in two parts. A paper based Drawing Test and Computer Based Online Aesthetic Sensitivity Test.

NATA test measures aptitude of the candidate through two sections – a paper based section for drawing and computer based section for aesthetic sensitivity.

Drawing Test

This is a two hour paper where candidate has to attempt three questions. The drawing aptitude is judged on the following aspects :
Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner.
Visualising and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings.
Sense of perspective drawing
Combining and composing given three dimensional elements to form a building or structural form.
Creating interesting two dimensional composition using given shapes and forms.
Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition.
Understanding of scale and proportions.
Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences.

Aesthetic Sensitivity Test

This is computer based test where candidate has to answer 40 Multiple Choice Questions.

The aesthetic sensitivity test measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and communication along with architectural awareness and comprises of :
Visualising three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings.
Visualising different sides of three dimensional objects.
Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities.
Analytical reasoning.
Mental Ability.
Imaginative comprehension and expression.
Architectural awareness.

HOW TO CHOOSE ARCHITECTURE COLLEGE

Today next to Engineering admissions Architecture admissions are also started falling down. The basic
reason behind is the quality of Infrastructure and low profile of faculty of the Institutions are the
reasons. The Architecture colleges affiliated to Anna University are not maintaining a good standard
according to Council of Architecture (CoA) or Anna University Norms. Almost all the colleges just
showing practicing architects as their faculty and got approved from both statutory body and having just
passed out architects as their professors.
Even this is the same condition in Anna University School of Architecture. Many renowned professors
are fighting for this with CoA. So Anna University doesn't bothered about the quality of the affiliated
Institutions. They have given approval for Architecture colleges who don't have building approval also.
The private colleges management are not paying salary as per norms to the faculty working there, then
how come one faculty teach students with full effort. Meenakshi School of Architecture, K.K Nagar &
Arulmigu meenakshi amman school of Architecture, Kanchipuram have not paid 4 months salary to the
faculty and they all left. Now they have recruited only freshers for less salary and don't have proper full
time faculty and Principal. The same issue is with other colleges like AMS School of Architecture Avadi,
CAAD School of Architecture Periyapalayam, Jawahar School of Architecture Saligramam, Jaya School of
Architecture (no faculty) Poonamallee, Rajalakshmi School of Architecture Thandalam, RVS Padmavathi
School of Architecture Gummidipundi, Anand School of Architecture Kazhipattur, MNM Jain School of
Architecture Thuraipakkam, St. Peters School of Architecture Avadi, and DaVinci School of Architecture
karapakkam. All the Colleges have common problem like Principal is not a full time faculty, senior faculty
visit colleges for 1/2/3 days only, fresher's are the full time faculty besides they study M.Arch in deemed
university and practicing architects in their list of faculty who present only for the inspection.
The top institutions running with 1/2/3 day faculty are Mohammed Sathak AJ School of Architecture
Siruseri, Midas School of Architecture velur village, AMS School of Architecture. The AMS School of
Architecture always fail atleast 5 students every year according to the instructions by the management.
All these facts are very much aware to the Anna University officials and they just kept all records idle,
never take any firm actions against any of the colleges. Now the colleges like CAAD School of
Architecture Periyapalayam and RVS Padmavathi School of Architecture Gummidipundi going to the
next level by sending representatives to NATA coaching classes like triarch, winarch, aptoin and other
non architects classes and promote them as a best colleges in tamilnadu.
There are certain university like SRM, Crescent, Hindustan, MGR and Bharat charges more fees than the
quality they offer. Bharat and MGR university were closed by CoA because of the lack of faculty &
infrastructure before 5 years.
The best way to choose a good college of architecture is to enquire with the senior students who study
there and ask about the faculty strength, infrastructure facility and the management. Based on that
