Re: Napa Valley College Police Academy

Basic Police Academy of Napa Valley College Criminal Justice Training Center training is the foundation of a successful and rewarding law enforcement career.

The Basic Academy is the most important program. It places a heavy emphasis on leadership, ethics, and community policing principles.

Essential to the emphasis is officer safety, problem solving, and character development.

Its educational philosophy defined and includes a detailed discipline model all of which is intended to develop outstanding law enforcement officers.

Equipment, Fees, and Financial Aid

The cost of the Basic Academy is $4116.00.

The cost for out of state or out of country cadets is approximately $9000.00.

The fee includes college registration, access to the student health center, access to the academy's WiFi network and program website resources, an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, a trip to the Simon Wiesenthal Museum in Los Angeles, ammunition, range supplies and equipment, and all uniform gear.

A $459.00 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a seat in any academy class.

Deposits must be paid in cash, by credit card, or with a money order. Personal checks are not accepted.

The entire deposit is applied directly to the fees due, leaving a remaining balance.

Students must purchase a uniform and equipment voucher prior to the start of the academy. This voucher is non-refundable after purchase.

The Class "A" and "B" uniform is provided by redeeming this voucher at Quinn's Uniforms in Vacaville.

A payment plan for the balance of the tuition is available through the academy. Cadets are responsible for their own transportation and lodging.

One is required to bring to class daily a laptop computer or tablet for research, report writing, note taking, and other required learning activities.

Student laptops or tablets need to have a keyboard and mouse, be capable of accessing the academy’s WiFi network, capable of sending and receiving email, and be equipped with Safari or Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word (2008 or later), Adobe PDF Reader, current version of Java and Flash, at least 16 GB of storage, and either 8 hours of battery life or AC power connector.

It is highly recommended that the screen be at least 13” and have a least 1 USB port, virus protection software, and Microsoft PowerPoint installed.
