The Mysore University has various departments. The University of Mysore was established in 1906.

It offers various UG, PG and M.Phil & Ph.D. courses along with Diploma PG Diploma courses in different disciplines.

For admission to B.Arch and B.Plan courses, NATA score is mandatory. B.Com-LL.B and BA-LL.B admissions are completely merit-based.

The university encompasses 122 affiliated colleges and five constituent colleges.

As of July 2013, the University of Mysore was accredited "Grade A" by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
