The University of Mysore is a public state university in Mysore, Karnataka, India. The university was founded during the reign of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, the Maharaja of Mysore. It opened on 27 July 1916.

The main campus named "Manasagangotri" eternal flow of the mind by the Poet-laureate Kuvempu, the former Vice-Chancellor, and the first Jnanapeetha awardee, is located on 739 acres of picturesque land containing a sprawling Kukkarahalli lake surrounded by verdurous trees extending to an area of 261 acres.

The university encompasses 122 affiliated colleges and five constituent colleges (forming an aggregate of 53,000 students).

It was the first University to be accredited by NAAC in 2000 with Five Star Status. The university is now ranked 36th in the India Rankings 2017, NIRF-MHRD, Government of India.
