The Delhi Municipal Corporation came into existence in 1958 when the
erstwhile Delhi Municipal Committee and different local bodies were merged

The aim of the Education Department of Municipal Corporation of Delhi is to
bring every child in the age group of 5+ to 11 years to school

The Education Department of MCD is committed to improve the standard of
nursery and primary education, qualitatively as well quantitatively, for the
harmonious development of children.

MCD provides facilities like free school uniforms, jersey, shoes & socks,
textbooks, mid-day meals, health cover, scholarships, physical and science
education, excursions and education trips.

Apart from free textbooks and supplementary reading material, a number of
teaching and learning aids are also provided. Audio visual aids such as
computers, projectors, TVs, charts, models, pictures, maps, slide from film
strips are a few such teaching and learning aids that help in stimulating the
interests of the children.

ADMINISTRATIVE SETUP

Addl. Commissioner (Edn) is the incharge of Education.
Department is headed by Director (Pry. Edn).
Three Addl. Directors, ADC (Edn), DDEs & ADEs assist Director (Pry. Edn).
There are 12 zones and each zone is headed by DDE/ADE.
ADEs and School Inspectors assist the DDEs in zones.
