The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) was founded in 1959, it is an autonomous public engineering and research institution and it is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India.

M.Sc. programme (4 Semesters) is available in the following departments:
Chemistry Department
Mathematics Department
Physics Department

Admission to M.Sc. programmes is via JAM examination, it is a common admission test for students seeking admission to undergraduate programmes of all IITs

Minimum Educational Qualifications:
M.Sc. Chemistry:
Applicants must have Bachelor’s degree with Chemistry as a subject for three years/ six semesters & Mathematics as a subject at (10+2) level

M.Sc. Mathematics:
Applicants must have Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a subject for at least two years/four semesters

M.Sc. Physics:
Applicants must have Bachelor’s degree with Physics as a subject for at least two years/ four semesters & Mathematics as a subject for at least one year/two semesters
