The Rady School of Management has organized a MicroMBA Program for UC San Diego Ph.D.s, Postdocs and graduate students. MicroMBA Program This program is designed specifically for Ph.D.s, postdocs and graduate students and applications will only be accepted for those who fit those criteria. The UCSD Micro-MBA course will be a fast way for you to gain fluency in business concepts from high-caliber Rady School of Management instructors. Eligibility- All UCSD Ph.D.s, Postdocs and graduate students interested in business are eligible. A selective application process will be used to enroll a cohort of 150 - 180 participants. This course is primarily for Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows at UC San Diego and affiliated institutions. Masters students and undergraduate students can still apply but will be considered secondarily. Application- Application Opens: May 30 Application Due: June 20 Application Decision: June 29 Courses- Financial Decision Analysis: Become familiar with the advantages and disadvantages of financial decision models. Business Analytics: Learn the importance of business analytics and how it influences fact-based decision-making. Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Learn how to build your emotional intelligence, which is important for peak performance and successful leadership. Corporate Finance/ROI: Become familiar with what drives the decision-making process at individual & corporate levels, including return on investment (ROI). Power and Leadership: Learn how to build your power toolbox to become motivated, positive, and effective leaders. Communicating in the Workplace: Increase self-awareness and boost interpersonal effectiveness; learn principles and strategies for maximizing communication in a variety of contexts (both in personal and professional life). Difficult Conversations: Understand the importance of teamwork and acquire team building skills that will give you a competitive edge. Marketing: Learn marketing execution skills and how they can be integrated with R&D to increase profits and growth. Science & Innovation: Learn how to turn scientific ideas into market opportunities, including how scientists & engineers take a role in that process. How do you determine if a research idea is viable as a business? Which products are worth taking to market? Is this idea big enough to drive a company? Strategy: Acquire practical tools and working knowledge to develop strategic thinking and strategic behavior.
