The Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS) admits 65 medical students yearly on the basis of an all India entrance test conducted at Delhi, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Mumbai centers. Post-graduation courses in all major clinical and basic science disciplines are offered at MGIMS. Distribution of Seats Maharashtra Non-Maharashtra I Open 9 9 II Rural 4 4 III Reservations a) Constitutional 15 14 b) Physically handicapped 1 1 c) Kasturba Health Society 2 - IV Government Nomination A. Government of India - 4 B. Government of Maharashtra 2 - TOTAL 33 32 Merit assessment Merit is resolute on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by the candidate in the Entrance Examination in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Gandhian Thought. Entrance Examination A competitive entrance examination shall be conducted by the Institute at Delhi, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Mumbai centers generally on third Sunday of April Pattern of Entrance Examination The Examination consists of two papers: Paper 1 Multiple choice, single response questions on Physics, Chemistry & Biology. Number of questions -60 per each subject. OMR sheet valuation. Each correct answer will fetch one mark. No negative marking for wrong answers. Duration of paper will be of 180 minutes. Paper 2 (The Gandhian thoughts) Carry 60 marks Duration three hours. The questions will be of essay type and/or short answer questions and the paper may be answered either in English or Hindi |
