Yes you can join Merchant Navy after 10th but after qualifying pre sea courses so firstly you will have to do these courses and then you can apply for joining Merchant Navy.

Here I am giving you these courses information:

Pre Sea Training:
3 month Pre-Sea Course in Deck rating.

3 month Pre-Sea Course in Engine rating.

4 month Pre-Sea Course in Saloon rating.

Eligibility for these Courses:
Candidate must have complete 10th with minimum aggregate percentage of 40% with Mathematics, science and English as compulsory subject and should have 40% marks in each of them.

Time duration of this course:
06 months

Age limit:
Minimum age is 17 years
Maximum age is 25 years.

Medical Standards:
Candidates should be physically and mentally strong, fit for sea-services under standard norms

Eye-Sight:
6/6 without glasses, No color Blindness. (The candidate is subject to medical examination).

Hey this is Jimmy and I am new on this forum. Joining Merchant Navy after 10th or 12th is the great choice. You can join merchant navy after clearing the entrance of Pre-sea courses. There are some various courses to join the merchant navy.
1.Pre Sea Training
2.Deck cadet
3.STCW Course
4.Pre-sea Training for personnel, man Dredgers, Tugs, OSVs, etc on N.C.V (DECK)
5.Pre-sea Training for personnel, man Dredgers, Tugs, OSVs, etc on N.C.V (ENGINE)
6.3-Year B.Sc. Degree in Nautical Science
7.1-year Marine Engineering Course, Graduate Marine Engineer(GME)

Applicant can not apply for Merchant Navy after passing the class 10th, to join Merchant Navy, applicant need to pass at least class 12th. Here, I am telling you details to join the merchant navy after class 12th.

Eligibility Criteria:

Education:

Application need to pass class 12th with science stream form recognized board.

Age Criteria:

Applicant age should be between 16.5 to 19 years.
