Eligibility for Merchant Navy;
The Eligibility required for Merchant Navy is as follows:

To join the navigation or marine engineering branch of Merchant Navy one must have a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering or a Degree of B.Sc in Nautical University or Institution.

At least 60% in Graduation without any backlogs
Maximum age 22 years
Eyesight 6/6 without color blindness
Height - 167 cm
Weight - 50 kg
Chest - 77 cm (normal) / 82 cm (expanding)

Selection Criteria;
Written Aptitude exam
Personal Interview

The Exam Syllabus is:
1) General English
2) General knowledge
3) Elementary Maths

The course is of 9 months duration and it can be pursued from MERI (Marine Engineering and Research Institute). It is mandatory for the candidates who have completed B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Technology to undergo through the course.
