Maharshi Dayanand University is a university in Rohtak, Haryana, India. It is accredited with an 'A' grade by NAAC.

The University secured the recognition of University Grants Commission the higher education regulatory body of India - for central Govt. grants in Feb. 1983.

It was established by an Act No. 25 of 1975 of the Haryana Legislative Assembly in 1976 with the objective to promote inter-disciplinary higher education and research in the fields of environmental, ecological and life sciences.

The university offers courses in a number of fields of study at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.

Maharshi Dayanand University was ranked in the 101-150 band in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework overall ranking in 2018 and 76 among universities.

Colleges in the districts of Bhiwani, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Mahendragarh, Palwal, Rewari, Panipat, Rohtak and Sonipat are affiliated with the university.
