Re: MCA Admission in Jadavpur University

Admission in MCA course is conducted by JECA (Joint Entrance Examination for Admission to Master of Computer Application (MCA) Course).

A Bachelor Degree in any discipline under (10+2+3) pattern with minimum 55% marks (45% marks for SC/ST) in Honours /Aggregate as applicable and Mathematics as one of the subject in the degree level or B.E./B.Tech .Degree in any discipline (other than in Computer Sc. & Engg.) with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST) or BCA under (10+2+3) pattern with minimum 60% marks (50% SC/ST)

Applicant must be citizens of India

Selection Procedure

Admission is on the basis of a Joint Entrance Examination (JECA) conducted by the West Bengal Board of Examinations for admission to Engineering, Medical and Technological Degree Colleges. These candidates have to appear at an interview along with the admission form.

Candidates who have appeared at the qualifying (Bachelor level) exam and are awaiting their results may also apply and appear at the interview. If selected, such candidates will be admitted provisionally.

Syllabus
West Bengal JECA entrance examination is fragmented into two parts- Aptitude Test and Mathematics.

Syllabus of Aptitude Test includes:
Reasoning Problem Solving Quantitative Comparison Discrete Quantitative Analysis Data Interpretation Syllabus of Mathematic consists of below mentioned topics: Analytical Geometry, which comprises of Cartesian and polar coordinate, Straight line, Circle, Ellipse, Parabola, Hyperbola, and Translation & Rotation of axes.

Algebra includes Complex number, De Moiver’s theorem, Solution of linear equations, Determinants, Matrices, Summation of single series, Addition of vectors, Scalar and Vector products, Inequation, Sets and elements, Universal set, Empty set, Subsets, Venn diagram, Union and intersection of sets, Complements, Algebra of sets, Finite sets, Class of sets, Partitions, Cross product, Group, Ring and Field.

Calculus consists of Limit, Continuity, Differentiation, Maxima & minima, Taylor & Maclaruin’s Series, Definite and indefinite integrals, First and second order of differential equation, Functions of several variables, and Partial differentiation. Probability & Statisticsincludes Permutation, Combination; Probability; Probability distributions; Mean; Median; Mode; Standard Deviation; Correlation co-efficient.
