The Three-Year J.D./M.B.A. Program offered by Columbia Law School of Columbia University prepares students for effective and creative leadership at the intersection of business and law. Academic Requirements Students in the Three-Year J.D./M.B.A. Program must earn a total of 71 Law credits and 45 Business credits. (Exception: Students who first matriculated at the Law School must earn a total of 72 Law credits.) They must also complete all J.D. degree requirements, including: (1) all first-year foundation courses; (2) a course in professional responsibility; (3) the Major Writing requirement; (4) the Minor Writing requirement; (5) a minimum of 40 hours of pro bono service; and (6) for students who first matriculated at the law school, at least six points of experiential coursework credit. At the Business School, students may test out of certain core curriculum classes through exemption exams and replace those courses with elective credits.
