The branch of Maritime University Navi Mumbai is known as Marine Engineering and Research Institute (M.E.R.I.). It is formerly known as Directorate of Marine Engineering Training (D.M.E.T.). It was established in the year 1949 by the Govt. of India.

The representatives from DRACEA (Dufferin, Rajendra and Chanakya Ex-cadets Association) visited the T.S. Chanakya on 8th November, 2011.

Ms. Kristy Haller, Vice Consul, US Consulate Mumbai visited and delivered lecture on ‘VISA formalities for the benefit of Seafaring communities’.

Prof. Ahmed C. Bawa, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Durban University of Technology, South Africa Visited MERI, IMU Mumbai Campus on 12th April, 2012.

Indian Maritime University (TS Chanakya) is loctaed in Navi Mumbai, Mahrashtra. The institute became operational on 1st August 1993 and teaches the cadets the new order but also makes them upholders of the old ones.

Marine Engineering and Research Institute (M.E.R.I.), formerly known as Directorate of Marine Engineering Training (D.M.E.T.), was established in the year 1949 by the Govt. of India, when the need was felt to train Marine Engineers separately.

At Mumbai campus maritime university offer only Bachelor degree program in nautical science.

The B.Sc (Nautical Science) degree will be awarded by the University on the successful completion of Three years duration. After 3 years, the cadets will be joining as the Trainee Cadet Officers on board the ship.
