Human resources are people, and human resource management (HRM) is the procedure an organization undergoes to manage people in order to achieve its goals.

Human Resource Management is the procedure of recruitment, selection of employee, providing proper orientation and induction, providing proper training and the developing skills, appraisal of employee (performance of appraisal), providing proper reimbursement and benefits, motivating, maintaining suitable relations with labour and with trade unions, maintaining employees safety, welfare and health by complying with labour laws of concern state or country.

Why name human resource management?

Human: as it refers to the skilled workforce in the organisation.
Resource: as it refers to limited availability or scarce.
Management: as it refers to maximise or proper utilisation and make best use of limited and a scarce resource.

Human Resource management includes:
Conducting job analysis,
Planning personnel desires, and recruitment,
Selecting the correct people for the job,
Orienting and guidance,
Determining and managing wages and salaries,
Providing benefits and incentives, appraising performance, resolving disputes,
Communicating with work force at all levels. Formerly called personnel
management.
Maintaining consciousness of and compliance with local, state and federal labor laws.

These are also called as core functions of human resource management for the purpose of effect for utilisation of human resource
