Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) is an annual entrance exam conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra to provide admissions to eligible candidates to various engineering courses offered by the colleges in Maharashtra.

MHT CET was conducted by the DTE Maharashtra to provide admissions to various undergraduate engineering aspirants in courses offered by the colleges in Maharashtra till 2013.

After 2013, it was scrapped and admissions were given through JEE Main performances in the year 2014 and 2015.

For the upcoming academic year 2016, DTE will conduct its own exam - MHT CET 2016 for admissions to undergraduate engineering courses in the state of Maharashtra on May 5, 2016.

MHT CET Eligibility Criteria for Maharashtra State Candidates and Outside Maharashtra State Candidates:

• One must be a Indian Nationals and should have passed class 12th Exam of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent exam with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
• One should have secured minimum 45% marks (for general category) and Minimum 40 % marks (in case of candidates of Backward class categories and
• Physically Handicapped belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
• Applicants are required to have obtained a non-zero score in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together at MHT CET.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign National/Foreign Student/PIO/Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries/Children of NRIs:

• One is required to have passed class 12th exam of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent exam with subjects English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and secured minimum 45% marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
• The eligibility of the candidates passing their 12th or equivalent exam from a school /college/Exam Board situated outside India is further decided by the University Authorities to which the candidate is admitted.
• Hence such candidates are advised to get their eligibility verified by the respective University Authorities before seeking admission to the Engineering courses in the State of Maharashtra.
• Applicants belonging to this type are not required to appear for the MHT CET.

Eligibility criteria for GoI Nominees:

• One is required to be Indian Nationals and should have passed class 12th exam of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent exam with subjects English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Secured minimum 45% marks (minimum 40% marks in case of candidates of Backward Class categories) in the subjects Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry added together.
• One belonging to this type is not required to appear for MHT CET.

MHT CET Eligibility criteria for J&K Migrant candidates:
One is required to be Indian Nationals and should have passed class 12th Exam of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent exam with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Applicants should have secured minimum 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics all together.
Applicants who belong to this type are not required to appear for the MHT CET.
