The Department of Sociology has its authentic roots in the Department of Social Sciences, which was built up in 1966. The division of human science got to be self-sufficient and autonomous in the year 1976.

The division has become more grounded in educating and research over a timeframe. The division of Sociology in every one of its attempts has been receptive to the requirements of India and its issues.
