Lovely Professional University is a private semi-residential university in North India . This University was Established in 2005.

LPU university offers around 200 programmes and courses at diploma, under-graduate, graduate, post graduate, and doctoral levels.
It is situated on the National Highway at the entry of Jalandhar City.

Dr. Ramesh Kanwar joined as the Vice Chancellor of Lovely Professional University .
Before joining as the Vice Chancellor of LPU, he was the Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department at Iowa State University, USA .

Qualification

PhD degree in Water Resources Engineering from Iowa State University, USA.
BTech and MTech degree from India .

He was awarded Doctorate Honoris Causa in 2007 by the Trakia University of Bulgaria

Lovely Professional University (LPU) is India's largest private university established in 2005 by Lovely International Trust, under The Lovely Professional University Act, 2005 (Punjab Act 25 of 2005) and started operation in 2006.

In India, it is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and the Council of Architecture (COA) and approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Its School of Agriculture is accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). It is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

Its School of Law is temporarily approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI) until 2018–2019. The distance education programmes are approved by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB).

Dr. Ramesh Kanwar has been the distinguished Professor and Chair of the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department (ABE) at Iowa State University.

He has worked as a consultant for the World Bank, European Commission, UNDP, USAID, NATO and FAO etc.

He was awarded Doctorate Degrees by Trakia University, Bulgaria and by the Georgian Agrarian University, Georgia.

He has authored more than 500 publications including 167 refereed journal articles, 10 book chapters, and 90 conference papers.
