LLM programs at School of Law - Boston University transform the careers of lawyers throughout the world. They appeal to a broad range of attorneys trained in the United States and internationally who share a singular ambition: preparation for leadership in the law.

Eligibility

Candidates to residential LLM programs must hold a first degree in law, or its equivalent, from an accredited or comparably recognized law school or law faculty outside the United States.

Admission is highly competitive and depends to a great extent on the demonstration of outstanding ability in previous law studies.

While work experience is not required, it is highly valued.

Non-Degree Students
The Graduate Tax Program and the Graduate Program in Banking and Financial Law, while designed to lead to the LLM degree, will accept a limited number of highly qualified non-degree students to take selected courses.

Non-degree seeking students must follow the same admission procedure as degree-seeking LLM candidates.

Interviews
The Program Director and/or Assistant/Associate Director interviews all qualified applicants by phone (or in person, if practical).

The appropriate graduate program office will notify applicants of the time and date of scheduled interviews.

Admissions Decisions

It makes admissions decisions on a rolling basis. Although the official deadline for Fall semester enrollment is April 15th, priority is given to applications completed prior to the date.

Upon notification of acceptance, a nonrefundable deposit of US $500.00 is required to hold place in the class. If the deposit is not paid within the specified time, the acceptance is canceled.
