Re: Linux IITK
The Linux Labs are available to faculty, staff, and students. There are total of 225 High powered PCs in 3 Labs located in 2 buildings - Computer Centre Building and New Core Building. The LINUX PCs may be used remotely by connecting through the command "ssh -X <hostname>" from local LINUX desktop. One needs to have an X-environment. LINUX has this environment inbuilt but WINDOWS need to use software like X-Ming, XCEED, X-Manager, etc. for creating the environment. The locations of the labs are as follows: Location: - CC Building (First Floor) v L-2 Linux Lab has 35 Desktop machines Hostname ccpc101 - ccpc135 IPs 172.31.4.101 - 172.31.4.135 OS Centos Software Most of Open Source and some Proprietary Software Extra Facility White Board and Display projector Booking One can book lab for any course as per the capacity and availability. v L-3 Linux Lab has 70 Desktop machines Hostname ccpc141 - ccpc210 IPs 172.31.4.141 - 172.31.4.210 OS Centos Software Most of Open Source and some Proprietary Software Booking One can book lab for any course as per the capacity and availability Location: - New Core Building (Second Floor) v ESC101 Linux Lab has 120 Desktop machines Hostname escpc101 - escpc220 IPs 172.31.3.101 - 172.31.3.220 OS Fedora Software Most of Open Source and some Proprietary Software Extra Facility Audio-Visual Systems, White Board and Projector Booking One can book lab for any course but should not coincide with the schedule of ESC101 Lab.
