UT Board of Regents proposed to President Lyndon Johnson and Mrs. Johnson that the University builds two different but complementary facilities. Five years later-in September 1970-the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs began classes, although its building-and the adjacent LBJ Library building-would not be completed until the following spring.
