The syllabus of LL.B. (Three Year) Professional Degree course offered by Department of Law - Kumaun University, Nainital are as follows: First Semester Compulsory: 1. Contract-I 2. Torts, Motor Vehicle Act and Consumer Protection Act 3. Constitutional Law-I 4. Family Law-I (Hindu Law) 5. Criminal Law (I.P.C.) Second Semester Compulsory: 1. Contract-II 2. Constitutional Law-II 3. Family Law-II (Muslim Law) 4. Public International Law 5. Environmental Law First Internship: For 15 days during summers (preferably in vacations) Third Semester Compulsory: 1. Jurisprudence 2. Administrative Law 3. Property Law (Transfer of Property Act and Easement Act) 4. Company Law Practical: 5. Professional Ethics and Professional Accounting System [Written Exam: 60 Marks; Clinical Work Assessment: 30 Marks; Viva: 10 Marks] Second Internship: For 15 days during winters (preferably in vacations) Fourth Semester Compulsory: 1. Civil Procedure Code 2. Criminal Procedure Code 3. Law of Evidence Optional: 4. Law Relating to Crime against Women Or, Offences against Child and Juvenile Offences Practical: 5. Alternative Dispute Resolution [Written Exam: 60 Marks; Clinical Work Assessment: 30 Marks; Viva: 10 Marks] Third Internship: For 20 days during summers (preferably in vacations) [In affiliated Law colleges located in plain areas, this can be increased by further 10 days provided that these additional 10 days’ internship is deducted from the fourth ionternship which shall then be reduced to 20 days in duration] Fifth Semester Compulsory: 1.Labour and Industrial Laws 2.Land Laws (U.P. Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act; UP Urban Land Ceiling Act) 3.Insurance Law Optional: 4.International Environmental Law Or, Intellectual Property Rights Practical: 5. Drafting, Pleading and Conveyancing [Written Test: 60 Marks; Clinical Work Assessment: 30 Marks; Viva: 10 Marks] Fourth Internship: For 30 days during winter vacations [In affiliated Law colleges located in plain areas, this can be reduced to 20 days provided that the remaining 10 days’ internship is added to the Third Internship] Sixth Semester Compulsory: 1. Principles of Taxation Law 2. Social Security and Social Welfare Laws 3. Interpretation of Statutes Optional: 4. Media and Law Or, Human Rights: Law and Practice Practical: 5. Moot Court, Pre-Trial and Internship [Moots: 30 Marks; Pre-trial and Internship: 60 Marks; Viva: 10 Marks] Fifth Internship: For 10 days after the completion of class-teaching of the theory course. This will include the “Pre-trial and Internship” component of the above Practical Paper of the Sixth Semester. In this duration, every student shall be required:- (i) to attend Lawyers’ chambers and District-level Courts for 9 days at Almora; and (ii) to visit the High Court of Uttaranchal at Nainital at least for 1(One) day. |
