Jean-Claude Juncker: Jean-Claude Juncker on 26 June 2014 was named as the next president of the European Commission.

Australian Open Super Series: Saina Nehwal won 750000 US dollar Australian Open Super Series by defeating Carolina Marin of Spain in straight-game played at Sydney.

IBSF 6-Red World snooker title: Indian cueist, Pankaj Advani won his maiden IBSF 6-Red World snooker title at Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt by defeating Kacper Flilpiak of Poland.

2014 Liberty Medal: Malala Yousafzai won the 2014 Liberty Medal from National Constitution Centre in Philadelphia, the largest city in the US State of Pennsylvania.
