The Power System Engineering (PSE) wing of KSEB or Kerala State Electricity Board Limited comes under the Director (Transmission and System Operation) who deals with Power System Planning, Analysis and Ground grid Design works pertaining to KSEB Ltd.

The wing is assign with the long term strategic planning and system augmentation studies, calculate new proposals for substations / transmission lines.

Responsibility of Power System Engineering (PSE)

Assisting Planning wing on Technical issues related to planning process.

Assisting planning wing in Demand projection / Load forecasting

To address matters related to CEA, SCPSP, SRPC, TCC and other Central and Southern Regional Forums.

Studies on various LTOA and connectivity issues in the SR region

Assist System Operation in analyzing Operational problems.

Studies to lessen the system loss by best bus configurations and feeder arrangement, to optimize circuit usage, to develop practical voltage profiles through minimizing kW and kVar losses by determining the location and size of shunt capacitor banks, to identify transformer tap settings, to identify under-utilized equipment which allow for future load growth, to identify overloaded equipment, to increase the distribution system operating efficiency and determine the most optimum operating configuration of the network fed from 33kV S/S.

To accumulate and analyze the monthly operating review (MoR) from various generating stations and Substations, check the wellbeing of energy meters/ capacitors and follow up.

Uphold web based modules for transmission asset management, MoR, Station Operating Statistics, Asset Commissioning and Maintenance Management System etc.
