The Krishna Kanta Handiqui Library was established to cater to the needs of the students, teachers and research scholars of the Gauhati University

The University Library was renamed as K KHandiqui Library after the death of its first Vice Chancellor Professor K KHandiqui an Orientalist of world fame.
