Aromatic and Medicinal Plants Research Station, Odakkali is a research Station under the Central Zone of Kerala Agricultural University at Odakkali in Ernakulam district of Kerala, India.

The station was established in 1951 as Lemongrass Breeding Station by the Travancore-Cochin Government. Later in 1972 after the formation of Kerala Agricultural University the research station was brought under the control of KAU. The station was renamed as Aromatic and Medicinal Plants Research Station (AMPRS) in 1982.

Services

a. Knowledge Centre on Medicinal Plants
The main objectives
Convey awareness about the importance and scope of medicinal plants, demand of crude drugs, market possibilities etc.
Authorization of farmers for farming through trainings, providing technical assistance at all stages of cultivation, processing and marketing, product quality certification, market intelligence

b. Quality testing services offered to the public from Regional Analytical Laboratory
Quality valuation of aromatic oils
Quality valuation of medicinal plants and crude drugs
Identification of crude drugs by TLC/HPLC
Custom standardization - Methods for quality evaluation is standardized for specific plants and products
Content of toxic element - Valuation of mercury, arsenic, cadmium and lead in crude drugs and products

c. Agri clinic: For consultation on field problems

d. Information and Sales Centre: For sale of quality planting materials, products and publications.
This station has an Information and Sales Centre for large-scale production and distribution of quality planting materials of Medicinal & Aromatic plants in the state and caters to the needs of cultivators all over India. KAU products and publications are also available.

The station also supplies planting materials of improved varieties of timber trees, fruit crops, vegetable crops, plantation crops, spices and ornamental crops in addition to Aromatic & Medicinal plants.
