Here I am giving you information about required eligibility to apply for Indian police service examination organized by union public service examination below


Eligibility :
You have to passed a graduate degree in any discipline of any well recognized of the Universities


Age limit :
You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of filling the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam form
Maximum age : Not more than 30 years of age..


Physical requirement
Height – Male 165 cm & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm
Female 150 cm & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm
Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.
Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.


Vision Requirement for IPS
Parameters Better eye (corrected vision) Worse eye
Distant vision 6/6 or 6/9 6/12 or 6/9
Near vision J1 J2
Corrections permitted spectacles
Color vision requirements High grade

Exam pattern
Scheme of CS (Preliminary) Examination
The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of objective type (multiple-choice questions) carrying a maximum of 400 marks.
General Studies Paper - I 200 Marks
General Studies Paper - II 200 Marks


UPSC Preliminary Examination Syllabus 2014
Syllabus of Paper I -(200 marks) Duration : Two hours
Current events of national and international importance.
History of India and Indian National Movement.
Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic.
Geography of India and the World.
Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution, Political.
System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
Economic and Social Development-Sustainable.
Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social.
Sector Initiatives, etc.
General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization.


Syllabus for Paper II-(200 marks) Duration: Two hours
Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
Logical reasoning and analytical ability
Decision making and problem solving
General mental ability
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level)

Scheme - CS (Main)
Paper-I
One of the Indian Languages to be selected by the candidate from the 18 languages included in the VIIIth Schedule to the Constitution (Qualifying Paper) 300 Marks
Paper-II English (Qualifying Paper) 300 Marks
Paper-III Essay 200 Marks
Papers IV & V General Studies (300 Marks for each paper) 600 Marks
Papers VI, VII, VIII & IX
Any two subjects (each having 2 papers) to be selected from the prescribed optional subjects (300 marks for each paper) 1200 Marks
Total Marks for Written Examination 2000 Marks
Interview Test 300 Marks
Grand Total 2300 Marks

The Indian Police Service or IPS, is one of the three All India Services of the Government of India.

In order to become an IPS Officer, you should have to crack civil services examination.

This Exam is being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) once in a year.

Academic Requirements

You should have completed Graduation with any of the steam from a recognized university.

Candidates who are pursuing final year of Graduation are also eligible to give this exam but they should be able to show the proof of passing in graduation when they appear for Interview.

Age limit :

General category should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this exam.

Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category.

For the candidates of SC/ST category, relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 5
years.

Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 10 years for the candidates with physical
disabilities.

CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test)

Civil Services Main Examination

Interview


You have to get very high score in the written exam to be placed in IPS.

Else you might be placed in other civil services.
